Gothic Arches… By the Sea

Nellie set ‘By the sea’ as the theme today and has made an absolutely beautiful arch. I, on the other hand, have thrown myself out of my box and made a really ‘playful’ arch. The seaside to me was always about fun, building sandcastles, daft adventures, burying your Dad, sand in your food, ice cream, rock pools and, if we were really lucky, starfish or fabulous seashells and crabs!!

I’ve nearly always lived near water and here in Devon, we pay through the nose for the privilege of having 29 Blue Flag beaches which I’ll never visit! (I love beaches, but they are not wheelchair-friendly, and leaving DH behind is absolutely out of the question).

So here, complete with flying fish, is my ‘beside the sea arch!

Flying fish, you and me, beside the sea...

  1. Gorgeous arch, Rosie, love the contrast between light and dark. Must say I’m just amazed there are no disabled ramps to get to the beach in this day and age!!

  4. That is beautiful!!

Jim’s mother is in a wheelchair and she has a condo at the beach that she goes to every year during spring break. She bought a special chair that is designed to go on the sand and in the surf. It was big yellow wheels on it. She just transfers from her wheelchair to the beach chair, and off we go. Only thing is, we have to push it for her.

I think it’s horrible that there are no ramps and/or other provisions for wheelchairs!
