More recycling!

Seems to be an ongoing theme with me lately! This week the Daring Cardmakers have asked for beads to be used on a card – no hardship at all! Sandy and Heike, who’s on holiday, (TGIF), asked us to show/use a preferred technique with our stamping and I enjoy stamping with acrylic paint and into it, so here’s a card fitting both those themes:

Life!

Background paper: Crafty Individuals; Beads: from Tracey and Cat (Auntys) and my stash; Chain: an old belt!

The word ‘life’ is stamped into black acrylic paint which I had smeared onto a piece of cardboard packaging and used as a palette. I liked the look of it so much I kept it. I took it out this evening, tore it from the packaging and stitched the beads and chain on. The packaging was very soft, so stitching through it was no hardship – attaching the ends of the chain with purple mini brads, that’s another matter entirely!! Still, I’m such a stickler for little details, aren’t I? 😉

I had a really lovely surprise today – the 2nd of 2 actually! Firstly, lovely Laura (Layers of Colour challenge), has awarded each of us a set of stamps for rising to her “Crowns” challenge last week, as there were very few entries – thank you so much! Then, this afternoon, I had an email from Silvia – Barnie’s Baustelle! I missed her vibrant stamping and playful style and had left her a comment on her blog, just to see if she was okay, not ill or anything, and she wrote to say she’s fine, taking a breather from stamping and will be back when she has more time. So I’m happier now… I know I don’t actually ‘know’ Silvia, but we share a lot comments in this arty-crafty community here in Blogland and you do tend to become ‘pals’, so I notice when someone’s not around. Nice to know she’s fine, isn’t it? *g*

  4. I love the “life”! and also the lively look of this piece! What a lot of work those beads must have been, but the outcome is gorgeous!! I love your colors, and how the beads perfectly match the colors in your background paper! Wow! this is wonderful!

Nice of you to check on your friends! You’re right…when someone who contributes regularly isn’t at the blog for a few days, you do worry a little, don’t you??

And in answer to your question re: my journal, it’s a book I sewed together. I like this best as I can choose papers, etc, myself. When it’s finished, I’ll post all of it in a photo album, so you can see front and back covers, too.

  6. Barbara, I’m shocked! The beads were easy-peasy, the brads a pain, but all for the love of ‘Industrial Chic’!! 😉

Thanks for the info re: your Art Journal… fascinating. I have much to learn, Obi One!
