Pour it!

She’s at it again! Lisa from Step Outside Your Box Saturdays wants to see what happens when we ‘pour’ our paint onto the ‘canvas’ of choice and since I really liked her examples (she’s good at this stuff!), I was pretty excited at the thought of taking up this challenge.

So, in between all the madness of my Saturday, I managed to make a couple of watercolour pourings, which are very cool to use as backgrounds, for example. I also kept and dried the paper towels I used to catch the drips… so I have four sheets of those too! I did vary it a bit too – took advantage of the salt grinder’s proximity to play with the blue/mauve sheet…. I can see 2/3 faces in this one now it’s completely dry. Whether or not I ‘draw’ them in remains to be seen!

I like this sheet – reminds me of pajamas! If you look carefully, you’ll see 3 little white blocks… I put 3D foam on the sheet, wet it and then poured the paint down the wet watercolour paper. I had the notion that it’d be interesting to make ‘barriers’ to see where the paint ran… answer: All over the place!! Fun though!

This is the sheet I ‘see’ faces in! The crinkles are from the application of cling film over the salt crystals as it was still wet. Can’t do anything the simple way, can I? This will make fab backgrounds… unless I draw in the faces I ‘see’ – might do that tomorrow evening, in front of the box! Here are the wonderfully colourful drip-towels, which I shall save for future projects.

Thank you Lisa! I shall do this with thinned down oils on canvas next as I really liked the effects you achieved with yours. I just lacked time and peace, so I chose the easy option today!! Hey, at least I made ‘art’ today!! Have a great Sunday – I shall be at work all day tomorrow and probably too tired to do much else! 🙂
