House of Cards

Weekend Taggers are such lovely people, I can’t not join in!! This week the theme is ‘Our House’ and I have made a ‘House of Cards’ tag, because often in our house, that’s how it feels… we daily juggle so many causes, hopes, ambitions and emotions, it all feels as tenuous as a house of cards – one puff and it’ll all blow down and we’ll start again! That’s the price you pay when you have a husband who works for us and all the disabled and less able anglers who contact us, a child whose greatest passion in life is to dance and my compulsion to create some kind of ‘art’ every day in between all the turbulence in the maelstrom of our home!!!

All that aside, here’s my tag!

Background – smooshed distress inks and a bit of Perfect Pearls chucked onto the inks before smooshing! I used black soot to stamp the faux brickwork/basketweave (one of my lino stamps) all round the tag. Then I took a mini playing card, edged and embossed with black ep (which I didn’t worry about brushing off perfectly). I then made the roof by patting the pads to the matboard piece (leftover from Donna’s house!) and just edging with black ep.

I mounted the house onto a scrap of vellum so that the background would show through and added the vellum sentiments (thanks Tracey!) with invisdots – really good stuff! I made the beaded butterfly and adhered that with a drop of diamond glaze and added the heart brad and some ribbon and fibres. Et voila! House of Cards Tag!
