At Layers of Color, Laura asked us to make a piece of art incorporating our country’s flag, while Gothic Arches challenge was about ‘Patriotism’. So I got out some red, white and blue elements for the good old Union Jack and set about making a stitched Gothic Arch:
There are lots of symbols in this piece, including the trimmed tassel from an old handbag, which I trimmed to curve with the arch… I thought it looked rather like a Busby (the Guards’ hats). I think I had SMWS (sewing machine withdrawal symptoms!), seeing as I’ve had my head stuck in my accounts this week. That plus the torrential rain we’ve had, certainly put a damper on this week.
