This week, the girls at MT2C asked for Red, White & Black in our artwork and I chose to use a piece of black chenille as the base of my bookmark. I stitched the poppies image I’d previously stamped in fired brick onto tissue paper, onto the chenille (backed with light card) and used some gold thread. I grunged the white ric-rac and ribbon with red and black distress inks and added the words Country Garden stamped onto sticky-backed acetate. You have to hold the bookmark to the light to see them though… like a secret, or surprise!!!
I don’t really know how practical this will be as a bookmark, but I guess that’s up to whoever receives it to find out! Maybe they’ll use something to seal it – though it’ll lose the tactile softness I expect?
