I’ve been doing a whole lot of doodling lately… and Harry got well and truly doodled round and punchinella’d too (mini waste…), so here’s a combined entry for Tag, You’re It (Faux postage) and Layers of Colour (yellow):
Harry is one of the characters on the Home Impressions Victorian Plate I’ve fallen in love with!
And while I’m in the flow, Lisa Gifford has challenged us to use Geometrics for SOYB this week. She linked to a fab Youtube video of a lady doing an abstract painting of circles and I got lost watching other art vids for a good half hour, till DH reminded me that it really had been a while since we’d eaten! Talk about ‘Girl, Interrupted’!!
Anyhow, I was playting with my brayer this evening (as you do!) and made a cool earthy background rolling Frayed Burlap distress ink on glossy paper, added a little Fired brick and then patted the Black soot, direct to the paper. A pattern of squares emerged and I highlighted them all with white gel pen! Look!
Pretty cool, even if it started out as a background piece, isn’t it? 🙂

/ August 10, 2008Stunning work Rosie!!! Cor, Harry is fab, but your doodling is fabber!!!! This is very inspiring indeed!! Your tag is divine, and your geometrics piece is just amazing! You know you see something out there occasionally and think “I wish I’d made that!”? Well, this is one of those pieces! I just love it to bits, and it would look fabulous blown up on a canvas and placed on my bedroom wall!!! Oops, got so distracted there I almost forgot to Thank You for playing along with our theme once more!
