“Dream”

Created by Hand have asked that we include the word ‘Dream’ in our artwork this week and the Artygirlz want ‘shapes’, so here’s a double-whammy that fits both of those challenges. I made this hanging plaque for a very dear friend who’s in need of something to take her mind off her pain. She doesn’t read my blog (as far as I’m aware), so she ‘ll probably be surprised when it arrives later this week! It’s all about PIFs this month at GPP Street Crusades – paying it forward:

I love this stamped image which DH bought me at a recent car boot sale (there were more which I haven’t used yet!), and I’ve been dying to use it. I think it’s very dramatic and quite lovely in a spiritual kind of way. The background is gesso’d text from a very old book and DTP (direct-to-paper) inks, lightly smooshed over the surface. Smoosh, tap, applied straight from the pad – whatever you want to call it!

The border is one of my handcarved minis – which is a simple wavy line and quite ‘aztec’… I had the usual drama with the flamin’ rubon letters. I like them, but they hate me! *rolls eyes*

Hopefully, Crissi and Julie will spot the triangular eyelets, the geometrics in the stamped image and the rectangular legend: “Dream”!!

  11. It IS a very spiritual piece, and the colors are strong in a soothing way. I wish I were as skilled as you are in these techniques. I’m just an old cut, paste, and draw girl, I’m afraid. I’m working on blue page now myself. Wouldn’t a real jester hat be fabulous? I wore one in a play about 35 years ago…wonder what happened to it and my two toned tights….if I find them, I’ll let you know!
