A special guy

That’s my brother-in-law! He was an orthopaedic surgeon, with his own practice, happily married to my SIL for over 25 years, when he was struck down by MS. For all the time I have known him, he has been living in a Nursing home… He loves Tigger and has a lively sense of the ridiculous. We all adore him and it’s his birthday this week. He can’t speak much anymore and needs 24 hour care. My SIL works hard to keep him in the private home where he lives and we all know he’s in the terminal stage of this awful disease. I’m just happy to be able to make him another birthday card… and we’re sending him another Tigger to add to his collection!

Happy Birthday John!

I used quite a few metallic accents on his card, so I’m entering it in Laura’s LOC challenge (Metal) this week. The stamped image is from Tandastamps and the background onto which I stamped it is from Hermine. The vintage adverts paper is from my stash of 12″ papers – nearly all gone now! The green staples are from a bargain buy of a mini stapler and coloured staples set I found doing a bit of shopping at Somerfield. They were in the ‘Back to school’ leftovers section marked down to £1.50!! Cool!

  5. Very nice! That is so sweet of you, Don’t you wish, you could reach in there and take that disease out and throw it out the window, when you see a loved one suffering?

  9. What a handsome, masculine card! It’s so hard–for me, anyway–to wrap my brain around the masculine in artwork! This is perfect—just as I would expect from you!! I’m sure your BIL will love it, and I hope you’ll have many more moments to treasure with him!
