Harmony is the theme over at MMM this week and I wanted to create another page inmy journal around the beautiful “Face of Hedera” image from Third Coast. She inspires me with her hair entwined with leaves and to me, typifies a woman in harmony with Mother Nature. I have been a Pagan all my life and this image speaks to me of ‘woman’, nurturing and powerful, in touch her inner self…
I used a lot of paint on this page, trying out different colours – some successful combinations, some not quite what I wanted. Gel medium also came into play and I stamped the image on tissue paper and laid her over the background. You can see her and the textures in greater detail if you click on the image. One fun thing I did discover is that the mohair melts and twists very satisfactorily when you apply a heat gun to it!! That’s what held the acorn charm in place.
Lisa at Step Outside Your Box Saturdays, asked us to show ‘Emotion’ in our artwork this week so I’m also entering this page for her challenge. I think it’s pretty emotive…
I managed to complete step 2 of the 4th page in the altered board book but we haven’t stuck anything down yet so it won’t appear on my blog until step 3 is done!! I have a YinYang symbol and a sheet of stamped faux washi paper ready. I happened to break a couple of rules, but then Trish always says that’s what rules are for!! I love the washi stuff – it has a lovely shimmer courtesy of the perfect pearls I sprinkled onto the water, which doesn’t show in the photo sadly! No matter, I can see it… 😉

/ September 30, 2008Oh, I just love the feel of this piece. This stamp has always been a favourite of mine too and you have used it so beautifully. To me, you’ve captured the feel of the wind in Autumn. It almost seems to sweep across the page. Absolutely stunning my friend!
