B is for “Budgie”!

A great pal of ours celebrated his birthday in August this year, but we were all so busy we weren’t able to get together and celebrate till next week. Thus, in anticipation of seeing him again, I have used ‘The Director’ from Third Coast to create my arch which I shall use for his birthday card. His nickname is ‘Budgie’ and this stamp totally reminds me of him!!

Our challenge was to produce ‘patchwork’ paper for Gothic Arches this Sunday – it’s explained beautifully – and it’s a technique which makes for very varied backgrounds! Voici Budgie, Le Directeur!!

Isn’t he delightful? *grins* I used brown/gold acrylics and gel medium for my top coat and then a dash of Candy Blue EP randomly here and there on the background sheet. I then cut out the arch, outlined it with Gold Krylon-style pen and added the elements! I seem to be using feathers again… 😉

  1. That is a thoughtful gift for your friend, Budgie. I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of it. 🙂

PS: Your comment about living in Spain and seeing the town’s Day of the Dead celebrations is fascinating! I’d love to read more about it (hint, hint)!

  11. We used to have a Prime Minister (in Australia) called “The silver Budgie”. This was becausehe had a thick head of silvery hair and a beak of a nose which made him look like an angry budgie. When I saw your Gothic arch I chuckled away to myself because YOUR budgie looks exactly like him. (He was also a fancy dresser!!). I love your patchwork arch and the earthy tones you have chosen. Great stuff.
