“Romance”

Today I am delighted to play Guest Host to Diane’s Mixed Media Monday again – one of my fave challenge blogs! I created this fabric collage on canvas, using one of Lisa Vollrath’s wonderful romantic images from HERE.

Yes, I am having a love affair with fabric and collage at the moment and this one was inspired by the Friendship canvas I made a while ago, which is to form part of my exhibit at the Ruby Country Art Expo later this month.

The canvas is 5″x7″ – a lovely size to work on! I was lucky enough to find a piece of fabric in my stash which almost exactly matched the dark geen background of the image – it’s sort of two-tone, olive green and bronze. It actually reminds me of those shiny trousers that we used to wear back in the late 1970s – they were kind of like petrol colours which changed in the light as you moved. Shame I can’t remember what they were called!!

The flowers at the bottom are wire-stemmed which is great if youy want to manipulate them, plus they are really fine wires, which makes them easy to stitch on. I bought them at the Scrapstore, but they were donated to us by a florist who had retired!

Thanks for having me, Diane, so close to Valentine’s Day too! I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else creates!
