Jefferson Airplane & Alice!

When I saw that “Alice” was the theme over at Sunday Postcard Art this week, I decided to take the plunge and join in for the first time! I have a set of collage sheets from Ten Two Studios with fab images from Alice in Wonderland and choosing one to fit was no hard task. I spotted the words: “Go ask Alice” at the bottom of the sheet and that song by Jefferson Airplane popped into my head immediately. So now I’m showing my age!

I wanted to leave the image black and white and searched through my papers for an appropriately psychedelic sheet to no avail, so the next best thing was using the music score CB folder and going completely rainbow with the inkpad. Added some doodles, brush marker highlights and flowers – ‘cos it was the ‘Flower Power’ era, wasn’t it?

I think I remember reading somewhere that the band recorded this track whilst tripping on acid! Well however it was made, I love the weird lyrics and the haunting tune… reminds me of Chrissy Hynds from The Pretenders a bit.

DD’s into Indie music at present (as well as Dubs… and Street Dance), so I have quite a bit of mixed stuff to listen to when I’m driving around. I know most of the words to Kelly Clarkson’s ‘We belong together’… and more. I hate to think what people who see me headbanging at traffic lights think – lol!!!

  3. Wonderful postcard! I like the different elements you used, and the colors. I, too, first thought of Jefferson Airplane’s song when I saw the theme. I like your write up, too. It reminds me of me when I’m driving and listening to music. 🙂
