“Material Girl”!!

I’ve been playing with (one of) the new Marie Antoinette sheets of stamps from Home Impressions. I was originally going to make this a little fabric book, but I changed my mind and created a wall-hanging or stamped fabric collage to send to Ria for her shop in The Netherlands. I really liked this sheet and chose it because I have wonderful memories of a visit to Paris and the Palais de Versailles, so when I saw these images, I knew I wanted to use them.

I’ve used scrap fabric for the background, one of my wire-stemmed roses and the remaining vine-leaf ribbon I have in my stash. I stamped onto plain white cotton scrap fabric (from the Scrapstore), using Stazon inks and heat set them. I bonded them to Bondaweb and played around with their placement after trimming them a little, before fusing them to the fabric base. Then came the fun part… sewing them in place.

The fringing has been in my box forever… and I just thought it’d look pretty. maybe even catch a breeze? Here are a couple of detail shots:

I love that guillotine image, and just had to include it – warped, aren’t I?!!

I enjoy these kind of projects but often I haven’t the time (or the patience) to make a decent job of them, so it’s great that this 9″ x7″ hanging turned out the way I wanted it to – bonus!!

Besides, my lovely Fabriano notepapers arrived today and I want to sit and stitch signatures while I watch the first show of Strictly Come Dancing this evening… You can always tell when Autumn’s arrived here in the UK, as Strictly is with us till Christmas Eve!

I’ve got so many projects on the go and in my head at the moment, I have reverted to using a notebook again and jotting down the bare bones as they occur to me. You should see my “To Do” list for The Gallery (who’d like to put a Halloween display in their window (wow!!) and Ten Two Studios projects and Ria’s…. and then my own personal “stuff” for my ArtFire shop – yes, I am finally opening my online store soon!
