Lady Waterworks – a geezerbird!

Created with Nancy’s Crowabout Collage sheet #64, for The Three Muses

Now, the Muses asked for “Birds, or birds of a feather” this week and I had decided to try and use every single element on the collage sheet. Trying to do this artistically and make a sort of sense of it, proved to be pretty challenging. So let’s see if you can follow the “fast-thinking”, tortuous paths of my positronic brain!

Lady Waterworks is the main focus of the altered page. In UK English slang, a bird is another term for ‘woman’ or ‘girl’, a sort of ‘ladette’ or ‘geezer-bird’ (geezer being a bloke, lad or chap!). Then we have the ‘geezer’ = ‘geyser’ or big water fountain-thingy? You with me so far? Lady Waterworks, got it? Good, good, keep up!

Then we have the lickle Bluebird of Happiness – and I made a blue bottle of happiness because… blue+bottle = flying bug, yes? So I gave the blu bottle wings and a title, naturally! And isn’t it wonderful to have eggs on tap? That is truly lucky – “If you have an egg, you have a meal,” the old ‘uns used to say! Not forgetting the 2 Bambis… dear deer, no!! I got the giggles sticking them down… there’s no hope for me at all, is there?

That’s probably quite enough blarney for one blog post. Heaven help my English students in the coming weeks – they’ll not make head nor tail of this sort of thing, bless them! I’m in training to become an Adult Education Tutor at the moment and really looking forward to it. I have my own assessment next week and then I shall be in training before completing a Teaching Course. I’m quite excited to be honest!!

  2. Rosie, your collage is the stuff dreams are made, a whirl of scrumptious images, seamlessly fitting together to make a rich tapestry. As if that wasn’t enough, you entertain us with your mind-blowing “stream of consciousness” in your writing. I had to stop and catch me breath!! Your brain should be pickled for posterity. You are a legend in your own lifetime and completely unique. I don’t care what your assessment says – go straight to the head of the class.

  9. Rosie, dear, what DID you have for breakfast? This is so creative and totally out of my imagination limits! But I did enjoy reading your thought processes and seeing how you put it all together to get this brilliantly designed piece. I love the look even though I’m not sure I totally followed how you got there.
