TGIF!

I’m quite grateful that this week’s almost over. It’s been a really weird one! I have been creating bits and pieces of projects on and off all week, trying to focus on one thing at a time, but that doesn’t always work for me. There seem to be lots of “shifts” in mood and ambience around here lately…

Nick, (my DH), is buzzing because there is so much activity going on down the hall at Reels on Wheels HQ – the phone never stops ringing, every few minutes he’s making a new ‘friend’ on Facebook or finding another follower on Twitter! I have created a Social Media Networking fiend!! If it’s good for our organisation and helps to raise awareness of what we do, then that’s very rewarding in  itself.

Me? I have been published again in Craft Stamper – hugely happy with that! I have this little fabric hanger online in the Web Extra section:

Angel-heart

I made this in December when I working on those fabric bookmarks for Christmas presents (seems like a long time ago now!), and also this little altered art piece, which appeared in the print issue:

These submission pieces pose quite a challenge for me, month after month, I can tell you – it’s not necessarily the themes per se, more the colour combinations that can be tricky! I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily choose to use turquoise and orange, but it works, doesn’t it?

The crow is stamped onto the inside of a recycled tomato paste tube… I liked that unevenness of the metal so I made no effort to flatten it out. The word Gothic is stamped on a piece of the same tube above it. The blocks are wood – mini-Jengas – just painted orange and then stuck together and then stamped with Ria’s gothic rose from the same Plate. She really does produce the most gorgeous art stamps, and always such good quality. I feel very privileged to work with Home Impressions. 🙂

  2. Nick’s site is awesome! Tell him that I love the music. Congratulations on your publication, Rosie. I’ll tell you a secret I haven’t told anyone else yet: I sent 5 of my journal pages away to consider for publication. Keep your fingers crossed for me, would you? Both of these pieces are wonderful, gorgeous rich textures and colors. Have a lovely weekend!

  4. These pieces are wonderful, Rosie!! I especially love the crow, and of course everything else you do with tomato paste tubes! I’m not sure if I’ve already told you this, but I LOVE the new look of your blog! So bright and refreshing, and it’s a perfect background for your beautiful artwork!! And as for your comment on your week, I think there must be weirdness in the air. I’ve had a rather strange one also, dealing with everyone’s changeable moods and whims. But there’s a light, cleansing rain outside now, and I think the air is clearing….
