According to Diane!! She has chosen black and white with a splash of colour as this week’s theme at Mixed Media Monday. This is such an intriguing theme, isn’t it? Let me explain how I came to create the “Little Red”…
Something inside me has shifted this year. I vowed to maintain a more balanced life this year, so that I ‘manage’ home, support DH and his aims and goals, help DD to achieve her GCSE coursework to the best of her ability and enjoy my ‘ME time’, not putting too much pressure on myself and my Muse.
I have the urge to ‘walk the walk’, not just ‘talk the talk’ – I’m being more thrifty than ever; I am using up the copious amounts of found objects and stash that I already possess and not buying anything that I ‘fancy’ but don’t need. I am creating and crafting the things I ‘feel’ inspired to, not what will likely fit a challenge or look great in the Gallery! Well, I saw a project to recycle a skirt you no longer wear and turn it into a pinafore dress, recently, and mentally perused my wardrobe. I don’t have that many clothes but I do have some that I shall probably never wear again!
I couldn’t make the pinafore dress because my bust has increased (along with the rest of me!), since I stopped smoking! However, I went through all the old Prima Paper Patterns till I found this tunic one and proceeded to spend a few hours today, happily recycling a rather ugly skirt into this rather Retro Tunic, and created Little Red from a bit of scrap, a little bling and some red feathers!!!
Isn’t he just adorable???
I had to work hard to restrain myself from adding more feathers and bling! Not quite sure where Little Red is destined to end up, but for now, he’s learning Catalan…!

I love your top, looks excellent. “Little Red”, bottom front, left side…you wouldn’t want his tail hitting your midriff, me thinks. My creative friend, you amaze me with your talent!
