Mama-san disapproves!

This week at SPA, the theme is Oriental. The MMM theme for tomorrow is “I feel pretty” – another lovely showtune chosen by Diane. This reminds me so much of the opera Madame Butterfly, which was my mother’s favourite. When I was quite young she explained the whole story to me and I remember that it always made me cry – so sad…

"I feel pretty..."

I chose the 2 lovely ladies from Home Impressions The Orient plate, as they work so well for this theme. The background text page comes from a pack that Lisa sent me (Ten Two Studios – ephemera) and it’s all stitched by machine. I used red and gold lacy scraps, wire-stemmed flowers from my stash and made a black ruffle for along the right hand side with some black lining that I tore into strips!

I’m going to have “brunch” with my DD now and then do a few odd jobs before I go off to work this afternoon. Have a lovely day, everyone!

  26. This is incredible Rosie, and I love the story behind it. Some mothers are especially gifted, and your sounds as if she was on of those. My mother, a high school English teacher, used to tell me stories from books that I was too young to read, but the stories were so fascinating that, by the time I could actually read them, I was hooked on literature. Weren’t we lucky to have such creative mothers? I’m sure your mother is very proud that you, in turn, are such a gifted artist.
