5 things or more…

More journalling in pencil on the opposite page to yesterday’s. This is where I answer the questions (aka prompts) from Sharon. To create the page, I simply pasted the printed out questions, then painted the background in varying shades of green – green and purple are the Feng Shui colours of abundance, so I am using them in this exercise…

What 5 things...?

I confess to finding great beauty and serenity in the colour green. It’s the colour of growth, renewal, new shoots and there are so many varieties of greens, I could probably use it for a complete canvas! I wrote in pencil again and I have used some beautiful stamps – Diva Impressions top right is one of my faves. The rest are either by Personal Impressions (butterfly), Cherry Pie or Home Impressions. The doodling is a white Signo gel pen and a darker green triplus fineliner from a set by Staedtler. Love my pens!!

Beautiful is the theme for Take a Word this week. See everyone’s entries on the blog.

**** NB: I just wanted to add a link HERE to Neil Pasricha’s talk on TED.com, which is funny and inspirational. I thoroughly recommend you sit and listen to his talk for the 17 minutes duration – I am sure, like me, that you’ll end up with a smile on your face! 😉

Favourite things!

Hels at Sunday Stampers has asked that we combine our favourite things to use in our artwork and I love paint and my own handcarved stamps, so I created some bright, scraped backgrounds and made these ATCs for the challenge. As the colours I have used are warm, this is also my entry for Mixed Media Monday, as Diane has asked us to “warm it up” this week!!

Birdie twins...

And the image is from Diva Impressions, stamped on tissue paper.

Entered, charged and answered!

Welcome to the Darkside of Sunday Postcard Art… Altered realities abound and there will be many entries for this most popular theme. I, myself, am going through a weird and purple phase with dark stamps and odd-birds thrown in for good measure!!!

Entered, charged and answered...

Stamp by Diva Impressions; masks (triangles and birds) by me! Griffin was the illustration on the page I used for my background! The paint is Tempra watercolour, applied with a palette knife – leftover from a couple of journal spreads… waste not, want not, eh? 😉

Odds Bods!

Odds bodkins… Sunday Postcard Art Odd Bods this week tempted me to get messy this morning and I created this weird art-dolly using tissue paper, stamping and Tempra watercolours (among other stuff, of course!):

Odds Bods!

I rediscovered how much fun tissue can be whilst browsing the Artistic Stamper Blog – Lucy’s tutorial is brilliant and of course, at the same time, I had to enter the draw for the latest goodies – see the top post! I used a Diva Impressions stamp for the head and the arms, legs and body are cunningly combined from various MaVinci stamps – I love the quirkiness of them!

Right – I need some breakfast before I finish off my journal spread… I can’t focus when my tum’s rumbling! 😉

Instant Gratification!

That’s what making ATCs often means to me – and am I ever grateful!! TMTA – “script” this week – gave me an opportunity to whip up this little ATC despite having the majority of my supplies in boxes (I’m reorganising my space)…

Journey thru the past

Stamp – Diva Impressions; latin text stamp – MaVinci; dragonfly – Personal Impressions.

I cut the ATC from a scrap of background in my “Backgrounds box”! I added the dragonfly piece after cutting it to size – from the same box. Out came the Neos and a bright blue Sharpie marker, plus the giant Posca white pen and I was finished. If I hadn’t twisted my back somehow, I’d be upstairs, continuing to sort out the creative space… but I can’t, so that’s that! 🙂

Postage Stamps

I have a round wooden box full of used postage stamps, so when I saw that the Three Muses challenge this week is Mail art, postage stamps or altered envelopes, I knew I had all the required elements. I got a bit distracted though, because I have been working on new projects for the Gallery in Bude. I quite often have 2 or 3 WIPs on the go, but this evening I had too much clutter laying on my desk and my poor mojo fled!

I left the envelope drying out and went and made tea. When I went back upstairs, I finished off a very tatty image transfer on a double jigsaw piece (that’s been on my table for at least 3 months!); and then I turned to my sewing machine and made the ATC (see previous post). As I was soothed by my sewing machine, my mojo returned and I finished off my altered envelope.

Journey through the Past...

The stamped images are from Diva Impressions and Third Coast RS. Oh and the newspaper I have used in the background is from The Guardian – dated February 1983! I found it in the loft when I was clearing out some old boxes after we moved. It’s got that lovely brown aged colour and tears beautifully!!

People with wings!

That’s the challenge at Theme Thursday this week and I had fun with these 2 ATCs… in fact I got so engrossed in making ATCs, I nearly missed the last episode of “Heroes” (Volume 2) on BBC2. Luckily I managed to get downstairs in time to hit the pause button and freeze it!!! I can’t help it, I love that series! Anyway here’s my entry this week:

Stamp: Diva Impressions (don’t forget the Holiday weekend sale!).

“Beautiful” – Christina Aguilera

Artygirlz chose “Your fave song” as their challenge this week and I have chosen Christina Aguilera’s ‘Beautiful…’ as one of mine. I’ve made a simple card in black, white and grey – for Created by Hand – using a gorgeous stamp from Diva Impressions.

The image is stamped across 2 pieces of mountboard, simply as an experiment. It’s a bit like gridwork I suppose! I used Black soot distress ink and then added the sentiment with my Dymo. PP are by Dovecraft.

Quote tag!

The girls at Weekend Taggers told me there’d be a quote tag challenge coming up, so here’s mine for this week! It brings back wonderful memories of my Mother – it was her favourite thing to say when I was down… “Laugh and the World laughs with you, Cry and you cry alone…” I’ve used one of my favourite Diva Impressions stamps – the Circus clown – because it seems so very appropriate!

Very distressed, very shabby-chic and I think I’ll make a pocket-card to pop it in! Have a lovely weekend, despite the typical “Wimbledon weather” we’re having at the moment! 😉
