Casting Call!

Casting Call is this month’s challenge over at the Street Team crusades and it’s all about paper casting which ANYONE can do! All you need is paper and water and something to mould your paper on(to). It really is that simple – the hard part is leaving them overnight to dry out!!

These are all using rubber stamps and foam stamps as moulds – I used the tissue method (impatient!) and experimented with toilet tissue (the best), napkins/serviettes (disappointing) and kitchen roll (okay). I wasn’t sure how many layers to use, so I experimented with that too! The napkins were tricky because they were so thin and I really thought they’d be more fun to use because of their colours… but the tissue was really good and to add a splash of instant colour, I tried a drop of food colouring onto the wet tissue. You can see the results here:

And here’s a close up of the foam word stamps… nice!

I really enjoyed this, despite the fact that’s it’s very clean fun! It’s so satisfying to make things that are unique to you and I have already been inspired by the results of the other Crusaders who’ve done this. I must add some colour to the pale ones and use them in my projects this week. Hopefully, this won’t be quite as addictive as my ongoing love affair with stamp-carving!
