About Me

I’m married to a (wheelchair-using) disabled angler on a mission to get less able/disabled people all over the UK back out fishing. We have developed a Buddy System to bring anglers together and promote a passion for angling, while forming lasting friendships. My DH has appeared on local and national TV, been in the angling press and done live radio interviews. He’s very passionate about our cause and has my total support and love. We live in rural North Devon with our daughter, 2 dogs, a cat and HIS parrot! Life is never dull! [http://disabledangler.wordpress.com  Reels on Wheels]

That started in May 2007 and it was a very busy year for both of us. Since then, Nick wasn’t on the road as much in 2008 – the weather throughout our ‘Summer’ was shocking and his health has deteriorated quite a bit. We also had to consider the effect of the fuel price hikes and other socio-economic factors on people’s pockets. Everyone is feeling the pinch this year so we can’t expect them to keep donating!

We’ve had some success pointing people in the right direction, matching people up and of course, we had that wonderful day out with Mike and the lads from Leonard Cheshire recently. It’s wonderful to have people get in touch with us and to be in a position to help them.

Ah well, that’s where we are at for now and thank heavens I make time to create art every day. It has saved my sanity! xoxoxo

Since then, in April this year (2009), we found a bungalow with a roof conversion in Bude and have moved. Due to the warmer weather lately, Nick has been fishing his head off and even going to matches, including “Fish O’Mania”!! We are also going to be at The PirateFM Trust’s Charity Garden Party – Royal Cornwall Showground – on Saturday July 25th, where we’ll be fundraising and raising awareness of ROW in Cornwall. Looks like another busy summer… and you can find us at Tintagel Market (Castle car park) every Thursday throughout the season. Same applies in 2010!

We did all that and more last year! 2011 is the last year that Nick will be so competitive – he’s going to be 60 this year, so fair is fair!! I have issues with some of the major comps he’s doing, but the World Carp Classic in France is a milestone (6 days and 5 nights of brutal non-stop carp fishing at Lac de Madine) and hopefully we’ll move again at the end of this summer.

I have opened an Etsy store, which I am building on week by week, and frankly, loving it. Life is good, I am grateful and so far, my family are well. I wish you the same… 🙂

My fab friend, Deborah, has opened a bijou gift shop in Fore Street, Redruth, Cornwall, together with her partner Manny, and they are selling my altered pendants and pins, etc.! Cool!! 🙂
