Diane at Mixed Media Monday has challenged us to use “stitches” in our artwork this week. Lately that seems to be no issue for me, as I have been happily using my sewing machine again. Yesterday I found a small piece of fabric which inspired me to create this piece.
The images are from Ten Two Studios, on The Aqua Things Sheet. The background is a scrap of fabric from some swatches I sorted at the Holsworthy Scrapstore and it has “Venetian” printed along the border… how cool is that?! The Italian text page is also from Ten Two Studios Text Pages and there is NO glue whatsoever used here – I simply encased the images and text in a very thin clear plastic sleeve, (after inking the edges), and stitched them in place. Same with the blue roses!
The plastic sleeve and the roses were also bought at the Scrapstore, so apart from the text, images and dymo tape, it’s pretty much a piece constructed solely from recycled elements! I love volunteering at the Scrapstore – you never know what’s going to come through the door and inspire you! 😉
